Locking doors and setting alarm

On departure after meetings at Guide House, you must check that the door is locked by trying the door handle.

You should be aware that if you unlock the door, step inside and close the door after you, the door is not automatically locked. It may seem so, but it is not. Consequently, you may be running meetings thinking that the door is locked when it isn't, or you may leave the building assuming that the door is locked when it isn't. To keep the door locked while you are in the building you should (1) unlock the door, and pull it slightly open (2) immediately lock the door again (3) step inside and pull the door shut. You can subsequently exit the building just by pushing the emergency bar to open the door, stepping outside and pulling the door shut behind you, and the door should be locked without you having to lock it again.

However you do it, the main thing is, when you leave, to check the handle to ensure the door is locked . The alarm should already be set when you arrive at Guide House. To unset it, key in the code you will have been given. When the system is unset, a green light shows against 'Unset' on the panel. To set the alarm on departure, key in the code, and press the 'Full' button.
