County Olympic Camp - June 2008

Picture of making Pompoms

To prepare for the opening ceremony we need to make pom-poms for cheerleading and we also made flags to carry in the Olympic Parade.

Having paraded around OAC with our flags and led by the Olympic Torch we arrived in the Courtyard.

On Saturday we did sports at Pond's Forge and then returned to camp to do 'Olympic Weaving' which kept us amused until dinner time. Saturday night there was a camp fire with the Brownies from Huddersfield.

Sunday morning was dry but windy and all was set for the Olympic Games. These included races to transfer peas from one plate to another using only a straw!

Who could throw the welly the furthest?

Picture of fish flapping

Flapping fishes was an Olympic sport until it had to be abandoned due to the wind.

Paper plate discus was more successful even in the windy conditions.

Finally at the closing ceremony everyone received their Olympic medals.
