Photo of trefoil guild at brownsea island

36 members of Sheffield County Trefoil Guild went on a visit to Brownsea Island to continue their celebrations in this Centenary Year.  Members range in age from from 55+ to 80+ and some have been in the Guide Movement since the 1930's.  They stayed at Foxlease, in the New Forest, the first Guide Training Centre which was opened in 1922. From there they made their way to Brownsea Island, where Baden-Powell organised the experimental camp in 1907.  Anne Barraclough, chairperson of Sheffield County Trefoil Guilds, said that Trefoil Guild members have been active all year joining in the many other centenary celebrations in Sheffield and beyond, but the trip to Brownsea Island was the highlight for many.  The photo shows members waiting to get on the ferry to Brownsea Island alongside the statue of Lord Baden Powell.
