The Trefoil Guild
The Trefoil Guild aims to keep alive
the spirit of the Guide/Scout Promise and Law amongst its members and to carry that spirit
into the communities in which the members live and work, and to give practical, financial
and moral support to Guiding/Scouting.

Trefoil
Walking Group
We meet on the third Thursday of the month, walking 4-6 miles in various areas around Sheffield and would welcome new members. Your Guild has a programme of walks or contact Ann Gillingham if you are interested.
Trefoil Stroller Group
This group has been set up for people who would like to meet for a shorter walk. Walks will take in local beauty spots (including a stop for lunch or for tea and cakes!)
Short History of the Trefoil Guild
In 1940. Miss Mary Porter suggested meetings for members of the 2nd District Ranger Co - most of them were young mothers so the meetings were held in the afternoons. From these meetings, Trefoil Clubs were formed for Rangers over the age of 25 and retired members of the movement, which eventually developed into the Trefoil Guild that we know today. So in 1943, the Trefoil Guild was formed and Miss Porter was appointed CHQ recorder.
Unstone Grange became a popular destination for County Guild Conferences with 31 members at the first one in 1946. By 1947, there were 2 Guilds in Sheffield but by 1948 there was 1 in each Division. At the first national conference in London in 1949 the theme was "Friendship and Service". Out of this, a decision was made that the Guild should have its own badge. From these early days the Trefoil Guilds have flourished with now over 20,000 members nationally.
The spirit of
fellowship and caring is most evident in all and the Trefoil Guild enables friendships
established through service in active Guiding to continue and many more new friendships to
be made.
Sheffield City Trefoil Guild will be delighted to welcome new members. You can join either as a full member, or for Guiders who are still active in Guiding, as an associate member. The meetings are in the Quaker Meeting House in the centre of town and take place at 1.45 pm on the first Thursday in the month. Come and meet new friends
